Healthcare
At SPAG Women Forward Initiative, we are committed to improving community health by focusing on Preventing Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV in young children, reducing new HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) through preventive measures, and empowering young women to take charge of their sexual and reproductive health. Our healthcare interventions prioritize awareness, prevention, and advocacy to create healthier communities where women and children can thrive.
Promoting PMTCT in Young Children
The transmission of HIV from mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding remains a significant public health concern. Through our PMTCT programs, we work with expectant mothers to ensure they receive early HIV testing, antenatal care, and access to life-saving antiretroviral therapy (ART). We also facilitate community education and counseling services to encourage pregnant women to attend regular check-ups and adhere to treatment. Additionally, we support healthcare facilities with training and resources to enhance service delivery, ensuring that infants born to HIV-positive mothers have the best chance of being born HIV-free.

Preventive Measures to Reduce New HIV and STI Infections
Prevention remains the most effective strategy in reducing the spread of HIV and STIs. Our programs focus on comprehensive sexuality education, condom distribution, voluntary medical male circumcision, and PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) awareness. We engage with adolescents, youth, and high-risk groups to dispel myths, promote safe practices, and encourage early testing and treatment. By working closely with healthcare providers and community leaders, we ensure that accurate information and preventive services reach the most vulnerable populations.
Amplifying Voices of Young Women to Take Charge of Their Bodies
Young women face significant barriers when it comes to accessing sexual and reproductive health services, often due to stigma, cultural norms, and lack of information. We empower young women by providing safe spaces for dialogue, peer mentorship programs, and leadership training to help them make informed choices about their bodies. Our initiatives focus on promoting bodily autonomy, menstrual health education, and access to contraceptive services, ensuring that women can advocate for their reproductive rights. Through awareness campaigns and advocacy efforts, we challenge harmful gender norms and amplify young women’s voices in decision-making spaces related to health policies and rights.
Through these healthcare interventions, Spag Forward Women’s Initiative is fostering a future where women and children are healthier, empowered, and equipped with the knowledge and resources to lead fulfilling lives. By addressing PMTCT, HIV/STI prevention, and women’s health advocacy, we are making strides toward building stronger and more resilient communities
