Livelihoods

At SPAG Women Forward Initiative, we believe that economic empowerment is key to breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering long-term self-reliance. Our livelihood programs focus on equipping women and youth with the skills, knowledge, and financial support necessary to build sustainable businesses, secure employment, and improve their quality of life. Through vocational training, financial literacy, access to credit, and business development support, we create opportunities for individuals to thrive economically while contributing to their communities’ growth.

Vocational training is at the core of our livelihood strategy, providing women and youth with market-driven skills that enhance their employability and entrepreneurial potential. We offer training in various fields, such as tailoring and fashion design, hairdressing, catering, and handicrafts, ensuring that participants gain practical experience that aligns with industry demands. By partnering with local businesses and apprenticeship programs, we facilitate on-the-job learning and employment opportunities, bridging the gap between training and sustainable income generation.

Financial literacy is another pillar of our approach, as we recognize that understanding money management is crucial for long-term financial stability. Our programs teach participants how to budget, save, invest, and manage debt effectively. We also promote the formation of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), allowing women and youth to pool resources, access microloans, and build financial resilience. These community-driven financial groups empower participants to take control of their economic futures and invest in income-generating activities.

Access to credit remains a significant barrier for many aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women. To address this challenge, we work to link women-led businesses to microfinance institutions and mainstream banks, advocating for inclusive financial services that cater to underserved populations. Through business support programs, we provide mentorship, business development training, and market linkages to help small enterprises grow and become competitive. By fostering an enabling environment for entrepreneurship, we empower women and youth to build successful enterprises that create jobs and contribute to economic development.

Our holistic approach to livelihoods not only enhances economic self-sufficiency but also strengthens social resilience. By equipping individuals with vocational skills, financial literacy, access to credit, and business development support, we empower them to build a future where financial independence and economic security are achievable realities. Through these initiatives, we are creating pathways to prosperity, ensuring that women and youth have the tools they need to lead dignified and fulfilling lives
